Minority Leader of the Federal House of Representative, Ndudi Elumelu and his family members have tested negative for the dreaded coronavirus disease.
Elumelu made the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday, noting that his domestic staff also tested negative for the virus.
He however asked Principal Officers and members of the House to go for COVID- 19 test over fear of possible mass infection among legislators.
“I, Hon Ndudi Elumelu, Minority Leader House of Representatives, did another Covid-19 test on Friday 3rd of July with my family and other 11 domestic staff, and am happy to announce that the results came out negative,” said the house minority leader.
“I urge every member and staff of the National Assembly to do same.”
The House adjourned for one-week on Tuesday after a closed door session with members and the leadership before the adjournment of plenary.
The Nation reports there were speculations on possible prevalence of the virus among lawmakers with unconfirmed report claiming over 50 of legislators might have been positive but chose to hide their status.
