Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has commenced grassroots campaign activities across Kogi Central ahead of the February 6, 2027 senatorial election, mobilising supporters and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates in the district.
The campaign, which kicked off on Sunday, featured roadside receptions and engagements with residents across Okene and other communities before culminating in a large gathering at the senator’s residence in Obeiba, Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was accompanied by her husband, Emmanuel Uduaghan, alongside political associates, aides, party members and community leaders.
Also present were PDP candidates seeking election into the National Assembly and Kogi State House of Assembly, including candidates for the Adavi/Okehi, Ajaokuta and Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituencies.
Addressing supporters, the senator expressed appreciation for the continued support of constituents, describing her relationship with the people of Kogi Central as one that extends beyond electoral contests.
She maintained that her commitment to public service was driven by her connection with the people and the responsibility entrusted to her as their representative.
The lawmaker also pledged to intensify efforts towards attracting infrastructure projects, economic opportunities and other development initiatives to the district, with particular attention to Ajaokuta.
She further emphasised that effective representation should involve regular engagement with constituents, responsiveness to their concerns and purposeful legislative interventions rather than merely occupying public office.
According to her media aide, Mike Idoko, the campaign attracted thousands of supporters, many of whom gathered at her Ihima residence and remained there late into the night.
Kogi Central Senatorial District comprises five local government areas: Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi, Okene and Ogori-Magongo.
The February 2027 election will determine whether Akpoti-Uduaghan secures another term representing the district in the Senate.
