Ebonyi State Government has asked residents in the state to disregard the sit-at-home order declared by the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB).
MERIDIAN SPY reported Wednesday, the pro-Biafra group declared a sit-at-home to all its members across the South-East region on Thursday October 1, which is Nigeria’s 60th independence anniversary.
The IPOB group said the decision was to send a message to the Nigerian government that it has lost interest in ‘propping up a crumbling terrorist state”.
But reacting to IPOB’s order, Stanley Emegha, Commissioner for Internal Security and Border Peace, described the call by the group as the height of craziness on their part.
Emegha said IPOB lacked the capacity to tell anyone to sit at home and urged residents in the state to go about their legitimate activities on October 1.
“Who is IPOB to tell people to sit at home. That is the height of craziness on their side. They talk to people as if they are things,” he stated.
“How can you tell people who have a family to sit at home, to do what? Will you come and put food on their table?
“In the first place, we don’t even know if there is anything like IPOB existing in the state. People should disregard the said statement and go about their normal businesses on that day.”
