Five lawmakers of the Gombe State House of Assembly have tested positive for coronavirus.

This was confirmed by the Chairman of the state COVID-19 task force, Prof Idris Mohammed on Monday while briefing journalists on the situation of the pandemic in the state.

Mohammed who refused to reveal the identity of the lawmakers, said they have been admitted at different isolation centres in the state.

MERIDIAN SPY reports Sunday, 16 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the state, out of the 260 new infections recorded in the country.

A total of 217 cases have been recorded in the state, according to data by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Similarly, six staff of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) also tested positive for COVID-19.

The commission made the disclosure on Monday via its Twitter handle, stating that the six are staff members in the office of the Executive Director (Projects), Dr Cairo Ojougboh.

It noted that Ojougboh’s result returned negative.

“As #NDDC headquarters staff undergo isolation and #Covid19 screening, six of 33 staff members in the Office of the Executive Director (Projects), Dr. Cairo #Ojougboh, have tested positive to Covid-19. However, Dr Ojougboh tested negative. Details soon,” NDDC tweeted.
