The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) says it has uncovered 58 bank accounts and 12 agencies and entities allegedly linked to Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-styled Director-General of the organisation.

The committee disclosed the findings in its preliminary report released on Wednesday as part of its ongoing probe into the PFIPC scandal. According to the panel, its investigation revealed a network of bank accounts and entities connected to Adeyemi, raising fresh concerns over the operations of the organisation.

The lawmakers also accused the Budget Office of the Federation of what they described as “institutional lapses” in relation to the activities and operations of the PFIPC.

The PFIPC has been at the centre of a major controversy following allegations that it operated as a fictitious government body while gaining access to public institutions, government facilities and budgetary processes. Previous investigations by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) reportedly found that the organisation was not established by any law, executive order or valid government instrument.

The House committee’s findings add a new dimension to the ongoing investigation, which is examining how the organisation secured official recognition, operated multiple accounts and interacted with government agencies despite questions over its legal status.

The committee is expected to continue its investigation and invite additional witnesses as it seeks to determine the full extent of the activities linked to the PFIPC and its promoters.
