The Kano State Police Command has cancelled all political rallies in the state following clashes between supporters of the ruling All Progressive Congress and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). Department of State Services (DSS) has assured Nigerians of adequate security during and after the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections. The Service made this known during a joint security press briefing at the Defence Headquarters, in Abuja on Thursday. The Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday announced a total restriction of all vehicular movements during the February 25 elections from 12:00 am to 6:00 pm. Force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement, said the restriction would be observed nationwide. He, however, said the restriction order exempted those on essential services such as INEC officials, election observers, ambulances and firefighters responding to medical emergencies. Gunmen on Wednesday attacked the campaign convoy of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Enugu North/South Federal Constituency, Oforchukwu Egbo. Report gathered that the incident happened at Eke-Otu in Amechi Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area of the state. The hoodlums killed the driver of one of the buses in the convoy.
