The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has deployed three Commissioners of Police and four Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) for election duty in Kaduna State.

He said the three CPs and other senior police officers were deployed to provide watertight security before during and after the elections.
The newly posted officers headed by CP Sunday Babaji at a news briefing assured the people of the state and all political actors of absolute neutrality and a level-playing field in the Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections as well as March 11 governorship and state assembly elections.

He warned the agents of destabilization to have a rethink as “officers and men are adequately provided to deal decisively with any recalcitrant element,” Babaji said in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mohammed Jalige.

The officers posted to the command to secure and safeguard the electorate and electoral processes are CP Babaji, CP Shehu S. Gwarzo, CP Northern senatorial zone (Zaria).
Others are CP Paul Omata, CP Southern Kaduna senatorial zone (Kafanchan), DCP Patrick Daoor 2i/c Southern Kaduna senatorial zone, DCP Magaji Samaila in charge of Zaria, Sabon Gari, Kudan and Makarfi LGAs, while DCP Abdulazeez Sani will take charge of Kubau, Ikara, Soba, and Lere LGAs.

Other ACPs deployed include Princewill Ijeoma, Mohammed Shamsuddeen, and Garba Sule Yaro, among others.

Babaji said the deployment became necessary to ensure no stone was left unturned in providing a conducive atmosphere for the people of the state to exercise their franchise and to prevent political thuggery before, during and after the elections.

He called on all citizens to give their maximum cooperation in ensuring the safety of all and to take advantage of the command’s designated emergency contacts when in distress.
