An Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) supervisor for coronavirus pandemic in Zamfara, J. J. Shalanga has died of complication from the virus disease.
MERIDIAN SPY learnt Shalanga who was posted to the state by the health agency died on Sunday.
The state Commissioner of Health, Yahaya Kanoma said the deceased NCDC official fell ill and was being taken to Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital, Gusau, when he died.
Kanoma said it was discovered he died of COVID-19 when his samples were tested.
“His remains have been taken to his home town in Plateau State for burial,” he said.
A total of 76 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Zamfara, with five deaths while 71 persons have recovered from the disease.
