In a series of candid social media posts, Tuokpe Onuwaje, the estranged wife of author and activist Reno Omokri has faulted him for neglecting their special-needs child amid allegations of domestic abuse. Tuokpe, who spent 14 years married to Omokri and shares three children with him, accused him of abandoning them in the U.S. while pursuing a new relationship in the U.K.
Recalling painful memories, she described waking to blood on her pillow following a ruptured eardrum injuries she attributes to Omokri’s alleged violence, alongside another incident that left her with a swollen jaw. She said the final straw was when she had to involve the police.
Her post emphasized how the instability exposed by his absence has deeply impacted their children, particularly their child with special needs. She implied that the decision to leave the family and relocate to the U.K. has led to inadequate emotional and physical support for her son.
Tuokpe also raised broader concerns about accountability, noting that while Omokri publicly praised his new partner, she has been left shouldering parenthood alone. She called on other women in similar situations not to stay in abusive or neglectful relationships even when under pressure to maintain a “complete family
