Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone has been appointed the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.   He emerged winner among five other candidates who jostled for the apex position.  His appointment was announced by the Governing Council of the institution on Tuesday in Awka. Nigerian teenage girl, Leah Sharibu clocks 16 years today in Boko Haram’s captivity. Leah was born on May 14 2003 in Borno, North-East Nigeria. Sharibu was abducted on February 19, 2018, when Boko Haram terrorists stormed her school, the Government Girls Science and Technical College, Dapchi and carted away 110 school girls. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has remitted N5 billion to the federal government’s coffers after the conduct of its 2019 unified tertiary matriculation examination (UTME). Fa bian Benjamin, JAMB’s head of media and information, disclosed this in the board’s weekly bulletin, tagged “JAMBULLETIN”.   The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the African Action Congress (AAC) has suspended Omoyele Sowore as the national chairman of the party, MERIDIAN SPY reports. Zainab Aliyu, a Nigerian girl who was detained in Saudi Arabia for alleged drug trafficking has returned to Nigeria, MERIDIAN SPY reports. Aliyu had been in detention in Saudi Arabia for the past four months where she was arrested for drug trafficking at the Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina. A UNIZIK student shuttle bus crashed on Saturday after running into a truck in Awka , Anambra state. The incident which happened along government house road left seven students badly injured; while the bus driver reportedly died on the spot. The newly re-elected prime minister Xavier Bettel, and the coalition government have announced that they will lift all fares on trains, trams and buses next summer.
