The Nigerian Senate has asked State House officials to restrain President Muhammadu Buhari from making any further medical trips abroad and ensure that the State House clinic becomes functional this year.
The Senate Committee on Federal Character made the request after Tijani Umar, State House Permanent Secretary, presented a budget estimate of ₦19.7bn for 2021 out of which ₦1.3bn was for the state house clinic.
Senator Danjuma La’ah, Chairman of the Senate panel, while giving green light to approving the budget for the State House Clinic, insisted that the President and other top officials of his government should no longer be flown abroad for medical treatment.
