President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.
The President has formally conveyed Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Dr. Uzoka-Anite will now move to the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third portfolio in the current administration.
Until his nomination, Oyedele, an indigene of Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s tax system.
The 50-year-old economist, accountant, and public policy expert brings over two decades of professional experience to the role. He began his career at PwC in 2001, spending 22 years at the global firm and rising to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader.
Academically, Oyedele holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
Beyond his policy and corporate engagements, Oyedele is a professor at Babcock University and serves as a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
The nomination is part of ongoing efforts by the Tinubu administration to strengthen fiscal governance and deepen ongoing economic reforms.
The announcement was contained in a State House press release issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
