The presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to go out and vote massively for APC during the 2023 general elections in spite of the hardship caused by the currency swap policy.

The former Lagos state governor made the appeal today while speaking at the presidential rally in Lagos.

With President Muhammadu Buhari present at the rally, Tinubu who spoke in Yoruba said: “O so wo, ko so wo, e jade ke dibo” (Money or no money, go out and vote).

Tinubu, however, thanked Buhari massively at the rally.

According to the Jagaban of Borgu Kingdom, Buhari could have reversed the APC presidential primary but the president chose the path of integrity.

Speaking directly to the president, Tinubu said: “Thank you a million times, thank you today, thank you for the past, and thank you for tomorrow. You set our foot on the path for the future to work hard and achieve greatness. You said for anybody to succeed you, he or she must work hard, must follow the law, that the election must be transparent, and that your party will be a shining example like a sun shining on the mountain. Thank you, Mr. President, you followed the procedure, you encouraged all of us. The primary came, the vote was cast and I won. You did not ask them to reverse it based on my religion, you did not ask them to reverse it based on my tribe, you did not ask them to change it because I am not from your village in Daura, you celebrated, you said to me, congratulations.”

Tinubu also thanked the president for what he said about him in Addis Ababa.

Buhari had outside the country on Monday called on Nigerians to vote massively for Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential election on Saturday.

He said he is not contesting in the coming election, but that his party, APC, has a candidate, Tinubu, who is a true believer in Nigeria and loves the people and the development of the nation.

The president said: “Fellow Nigerians, I want to use this opportunity to once again thank you for electing me to be your President on two occasions.

“I am not a contestant in this election, but my party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has a candidate in the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. As I mentioned before, Tinubu is a true believer in Nigeria, who loves the people and the development of our country.

“I am calling on all of you to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He is reliable and I trust he will build on our achievements.”

Reacting to the commendations of Buhari, Tinubu said: ” I heard you loud and clear. The level of confidence that you have in me in a distant country, thank you. In a distant country, you told them of my characteristics and your faith in my capacity to Naira Crunch Shouldn’t Affect Your Votes for Me, Tinubu tells Nigeriansdo a great job as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
