The newly appointed Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari who assumed office today, Wednesday May 13, has stated categorically that he will only be reporting to the President and not to the nation.

Gambari made the clarification on Wednesday while fielding questions from journalists after attending the Federal Executive Council, FEC meeting in the statehouse Abuja.

He thanked Buhari for giving him the opportunity to serve.

In his response to a question on what Nigerians should expect from him, he said: “I think you have to ask the president.”

Speaking further, Gambari stated: “I have not started, so I will find out… I don’t report directly to the nation; I report directly to the president.”

On what he has to offer the president, he said: “My loyalty, competence and support…I think he needs my loyalty, competence and support.”
