Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has threatened to institute a ₦10 billion defamation suit against Adeniyi Adeyemi over allegations linking him to bribery, murder and abuse of office.
The legal threat was conveyed through a letter signed by Gbajabiamila’s counsel, Kemi Pinheiro (SAN), demanding that Adeyemi immediately retract the allegations, remove all related videos and publications, and publish an unreserved apology in at least five national newspapers and across his social media platforms.
According to the letter, the allegations, made during a June 26 press conference, were described as false, malicious and defamatory. Gbajabiamila’s legal team maintained that he has never met or had any dealings with Adeyemi, insisting that the claims were fabricated to tarnish his reputation.
The lawyers warned that failure to comply with the demands within 72 hours would leave their client with no option but to commence legal proceedings, seeking ₦10 billion in aggravated and exemplary damages, alongside other reliefs available under the law.
The dispute stems from claims surrounding the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), an organisation the Presidency has repeatedly stated is not recognised under the current administration. Despite this, Adeyemi alleged financial misconduct involving Gbajabiamila and questioned the council’s appearance in the 2026 budget, claims the Chief of Staff has firmly denied.
