DEFECTION: 4 Bauchi Reps, Nasarawa Colleague Quit PDP, APC for Another Party
Four members of the House of Representatives from Bauchi State have defected from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Allied People’s Movement (APM).
The defectors include; Hon. Mohammed Shehu; Hon. Aliyu Aminu; Hon. Sani Tanko and Hon. Mansur Manu Soro.
Their defections from the PDP to the APM was announced in separate letters which were read by the House by the Speaker Dr Abbas Tajuddeen. They cited unresolved internal crises and divisions within the party as the reason for their defections to another party.
According to the lawmakers, persistent internal disputes and unresolved leadership challenges within the PDP influenced their decision to leave the party.
Similarly, the member representing Akwanga, Nasarawa-Eggon and Wamba Federal Constituency of Nasarawa State, Hon. Jeremiah Umaru, defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Hon. Umaru said his defection was to safeguard his political future and better serve the interests of his constituents.
It could be recalled that, 14 members have announced their defections to various new parties earlier on Wednesday.
The defections were largely the result of fall-out of primaries held by some political parties which resulted in disaffection by affected aspirants after they failed to secure return tickets.
