Retired military officers are set to protest at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja on Wednesday over the non-implementation of the consequential adjustment to their pensions.
The veterans are demanding that the pension adjustment be implemented following recent salary increases approved for serving military personnel. The development has renewed concerns over the welfare and financial security of retired members of the armed forces.
The planned protest comes amid the Federal Government’s recent improvement in the pay of serving military personnel, including salary increases of between 30 and 80 per cent, which are scheduled to take effect from September 2026.
The veterans are seeking similar consideration for pensioners, particularly over arrears and adjustments they say remain outstanding.
