The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed 329,865.585kg of assorted illicit drugs valued at an estimated N301.06bn in Lagos, following a court order. The drugs included cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, cannabis, opioids and other controlled substances recovered from concluded cases and abandoned seizures.
The agency said the destruction was carried out at Navy Town, Ojo, Lagos, with the seized substances representing consignments intercepted through various operations between April 2025 and May 2026.
Meanwhile, the Edo State Command destroyed two cannabis plantations with an estimated yield of 4,628.9kg and arrested 10 suspected drug traffickers in separate operations across the state.
NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Buba Marwa said the operation was aimed at depriving criminal networks of resources used to sustain drug trafficking, while warning traffickers and their financiers that the agency would intensify its operations against them.
