The King of Saudi Arabia has said it was going to relax the ongoing curfew occasioned by the rising number of coronavirus patients in the country.

Saudi King, Salman bin Abdulaziz had imposed the curfew in March to curtail the spread of the virus in the kingdom.

Barely a month after the introduction of the nationwide curfew, the King has ordered a partial lift on the curfew – beginning from Sunday 26, 2020 to May 13, 2020.

The new directive will allow people to go out from 9 am (0600 GMT) until 5 pm daily.

The holy city of Mecca, would however, remain  under a 24-hour curfew.

The monarch also allowed some businesses, including shopping centres, retail and wholesale stores, and factories to reopen for two weeks, beginning next Wednesday.

Meanwhile, congregational prayers and the 2020 pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina remain suspended as part of the country’s strict measures to limit the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The country has so far reported  a total of 1,699 cases of the deadly virus and 136 deaths.
