Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has been named the winner of 2019 AFCON golden boot with five goals. The Nigerian striker was the match winner in the Eagles opening goal against Burundi, before he scored a brace against Cameroon in the final and a goal each in the semifinal against Algeria and the third-place match against Tunisia. Algeria has won the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON for the second time on Friday with a  second-minute goal  which gave  them a 1-0 win over Senegal in the final. The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has declared that electricity customers will now be allowed to get prepaid meters and pay later. Nathan Shatti, NERC’s commissioner for finance and management services, broke the cheering news at a press conference in Lagos stating that customers will start enjoying the privilege from August. He explained clearly that one-phase prepaid meter will be available for N36, 992 and three-phase for N67,055 and customers can either pay upfront or in instalments within a period of one to 10 years. A 37-year-old guard, Wasiu Orilonise, has confessed to an Oyo State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ibadan that he raped his 15-year-old daughter in order to ascertain her virginity and protect her. Orilonise begged the court not to punish him as he had carnal knowledge of the victim for protection and to confirm if she was still a virgin. The accused was arraigned on one count of having unlawful carnal knowledge of his daughter. Shuaibu Ibrahim, on Wednesday, promised an automatic job, two limbs and other assistance to Nurudeen Tahir, a corps member who recently lost his arms  in an auto crash after completing the camp orientation exercise in Jalingo, Taraba State. Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana says election petitions should be handled by retired Judges as serving judges are overburdened. Falana, in statement on Thursday, said serving judges now leave court cases of various magnitude while trying to comply with national assignments within their jurisdictions.
