Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 10 civilians in separate operations across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States.
The operations were carried out as part of ongoing efforts by the military to protect lives, secure communities and disrupt terrorist activities across the North-West region.
In Sokoto State, troops conducting a patrol in Isa Local Government Area on August 19 encountered a terrorist ambush.
The soldiers responded to the attack and forced the terrorists to flee. Five civilians were rescued during the encounter and subsequently reunited with their families.
Two motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing terrorists were also recovered by the troops.
In Kebbi State, troops acting on intelligence concerning three kidnapped victims launched a search-and-rescue operation in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area on August 18.
Similarly, troops responded to reports of terrorist activity in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on the same day.
The rapid mobilisation of the soldiers reportedly forced the terrorists to flee, leaving two captives behind.
The rescued victims, who had sustained gunshot wounds during their captivity, were evacuated to a medical facility for urgent treatment.
The Joint Task Force said troops have continued efforts to track and neutralise the fleeing terrorists while strengthening security across affected communities.
The military also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting civilians and disrupting terrorist activities across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States.
