A former member of the House of Representatives from Ogun State, Kayode Oladele, has urged the Federal Government to institutionalise the National Community Food Bank Programme to ensure its sustainability and expand its impact across the country.
Oladele commended First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for launching the South-West zonal programme in Ogun State, describing it as a commendable initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable Nigerians and addressing food insecurity.
The South-West rollout includes three food banks in Sagamu, Yewa North and Abeokuta South, providing a structured channel for food assistance to communities in need.
He called for the programme to be given a permanent institutional framework so that it can continue beyond individual administrations and reach more vulnerable households across Nigeria.
