The UK Government has pledged £442 million to help people sleeping rough in England move off the streets by Christmas, as part of an intensified effort to tackle homelessness.
The funding is aimed at providing rough sleepers with access to accommodation, support services and routes into more stable housing, with the government seeking to significantly reduce rough sleeping across England.
The announcement forms part of Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s drive to address homelessness and ensure people living on the streets receive practical support rather than remaining trapped in a cycle of rough sleeping.
