S/Arabia-Trained Graduates to Begin Forum on Sustainable Development

The Forum for Graduates of Saudi Universities in Nigeria and Neighboring Countries will on Monday commence a three-day session in Abuja, under the patronage of Saudi universities, to advance discussions on sustainable development.

The gathering will bring together Saudi-trained graduates from Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, Gabon and other countries across the subregion to explore how their expertise can contribute to critical sectors including education, economy, agriculture, media and charitable work.

According to the organisers, the forum will feature dialogue sessions and presentations highlighting practical models through which graduates have translated their academic knowledge into impactful community projects. Among these are the Cooperative Microfinance Window to strengthen small-scale enterprises, Cattle Fattening Projects to boost food security and rural livelihoods, as well as educational initiatives such as Quran Memorisation Efforts and the establishment of teachers’ colleges.

Experts and academics from both Nigeria and Saudi Arabia are also expected to participate, offering insights on how higher education can serve as a driver of transformation at community and national levels.

Beyond Nigeria, the forum will spotlight initiatives by Saudi-trained graduates in Chad, Cameroon and Gabon, reflecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s enduring role in fostering human and community development across West and Central Africa.

Organisers said the Abuja sessions are designed to provide a strategic platform for exchanging ideas, strengthening partnerships between graduates and academic institutions, and aligning their collective efforts with the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

By bringing stakeholders together and showcasing successful development models, the forum is expected to reinforce educational diplomacy and underscore the transformative role of Saudi university graduates in shaping the future of their societies.
