President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi as Secretary of the Sports Sector Mobilisation Directorate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 presidential election.
The appointment was contained in the full composition of the campaign council released on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga. Abdullahi is expected to support the mobilisation of stakeholders and voters within the sports sector as the party prepares for the 2027 presidential contest.
The Sports Sector Mobilisation Directorate is headed by Shehu Dikko as Director, with former Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu and former Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo serving as Deputy Directors, alongside other officials saddled with sector-specific responsibilities.
The APC Presidential Campaign Council is chaired by President Tinubu, with Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, as Vice Chairmen. Former Zamfara Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, serves as Director-General, while Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, is Secretary. The council comprises various directorates covering mobilisation, media and strategic communication, election planning, youth and women mobilisation, sports, security, grassroots engagement and other key areas of the 2027 campaign.
Dr. Abdullahi, who currently serves as Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria and Director of the Youth of Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), now takes on the additional responsibility of Secretary, Sports Sector Mobilisation, further expanding his role in public service and national mobilisation.
