At least four people were killed and 10 others injured after Russia launched a fresh wave of overnight drone and missile attacks across several parts of Ukraine on Saturday, Ukrainian officials have said.
The dead included two women, an elderly man and a two-year-old girl after a Russian drone struck a residential house in the northeastern Sumy region, destroying parts of the building and trapping victims under the rubble.
Emergency response teams were immediately deployed to the scene to carry out rescue operations, evacuate survivors and recover the bodies of those killed.
In the central city of Kryvyi Rih, a missile hit a densely populated residential area, leaving seven people injured and causing extensive damage to homes and other civilian infrastructure. Local authorities said emergency workers and medical personnel responded swiftly to the attack, while efforts continued to assess the full extent of the destruction.
The latest strikes came barely 24 hours after one of the deadliest Russian assaults on Kyiv this year, highlighting the continued escalation of hostilities despite repeated international calls for a ceasefire.
Ukrainian officials condemned the attacks, describing them as another assault on civilians, and renewed appeals to Western allies for additional air defence systems to help protect the country’s cities from sustained aerial bombardment.
