The House of Representatives has directed the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to produce Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), within 48 hours as lawmakers intensify their investigation into the controversial agency.

The order was issued during a resumed investigative hearing of the House committee probing the activities of the PFIPC. Lawmakers are examining allegations that the organisation operated without legal backing while securing office space in the Federal Secretariat and receiving a ₦1.32 billion allocation in the 2026 Appropriation Act.

Police representatives informed the committee that investigations into Adeyemi are ongoing and confirmed that an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy and fraud has already been filed against him at the Federal High Court. The allegations include claims that he falsely presented himself as the Director-General of both the Presidential Economic Advisory Council and the PFIPC.

The committee said Adeyemi’s appearance is necessary to clarify the allegations and determine how the agency allegedly operated despite questions surrounding its legal status.
