The Bayelsa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the construction of a ₦20 million palace for the traditional ruler of Elebele Community in Ogbia Local Government Area, the hometown of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The project was announced by the state PDP chairman, George Turnah, during a reception for former APC chieftain Gabriel Claudius and his supporters, who recently defected to the PDP. Turnah said the decision followed an inspection of the monarch’s palace, which party leaders described as being in poor condition.

According to him, work on the palace will begin immediately rather than waiting for the election season. He added that the initiative reflects the party’s commitment to supporting communities that have remained loyal over the years and forms part of broader grassroots development effort.

The PDP also used the event to reaffirm its confidence ahead of future elections, with party leaders urging members to remain united and strengthen mobilization across Bayelsa State.
