New APC Chairman Sets Sights on Party Cohesion, Expansion
The newly appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Yilwatda Nentawe, has pledged to unify and strengthen the ruling party, promising inclusive leadership and a renewed push for nationwide expansion.
Speaking during his acceptance speech at the party’s 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, on Thursday, Nentawe stated his resolve to rebuild the APC from within by engaging all segments of the party across the country.
“I pledge without hesitation that I will work with everybody in the party,” Nentawe said. “I will expand the party with you.”
His emergence followed a motion moved by the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, who also announced that the party chairmanship had been zoned to the North Central region. The nomination was promptly seconded by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.
Nentawe, an engineer and former academic, hails from Plateau State in the North Central zone. He was the APC’s gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections.
His appointment comes at a time when the party is working to consolidate internal cohesion, reconcile aggrieved members, and strategize for future electoral contests.
The new chairman’s pledge to work collaboratively with all stakeholders is seen as a significant step toward stabilizing the party’s internal structures and reenergizing its base nationwide.
