Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has denied claims that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) played a role in his re-election victory, insisting that there was no electoral deal or partnership between his administration and the party before, during or after the governorship election.
The denial followed comments by ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi, who said the party had collaborated with Adeleke’s Accord to prevent the APC from returning to power in Osun State.
Adeleke, however, said the ADC was not part of the political alliance that supported his campaign. He credited his victory to God and the people of Osun State, while thanking other political partners who supported his re-election bid.
Adeleke won the election with 511,067 votes, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes, while ADC candidate Najeem Salaam received 17,180 votes.
