MTN Nigeria has announced a planned network maintenance that will temporarily disrupt services for customers in parts of Adamawa, Borno, and Kano states. The work is scheduled to permanently restore a damaged fiber infrastructure, which will impact 101 cell sites across 15 Local Government Areas.
The maintenance is set to begin on Saturday, August 24, 2025, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. During this two-hour window, customers in areas such as Girei, Song, and Mubi in Adamawa; Askira/UBA in Borno; and Nasarawa in Kano will experience temporary disruptions to 2G, 3G, and 4G networks, as well as 10 enterprise services.
According to MTN, the maintenance is necessary to replace damaged fiber along the AFCOT-Bawo Village route in Adamawa State. The company will be cutting over traffic to a newly installed fiber infrastructure to improve overall network stability and service quality. Due to the unprotected nature of the route, the work will be performed during daylight hours for security reasons.
MTN Nigeria apologized for any inconvenience and thanked its customers for their understanding as it works to improve service quality and reliability.
