Atiku Welcomes 9 Senators into AD

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has commended the nine senators who defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Thursday.

In a post on his Facebook page, Atiku said the lawmakers’ decision was not driven by personal gain but by a commitment to Nigeria’s democracy.

He said the move comes at a time when many politicians are allegedly being pressured to join the ruling party.

His words: “I commend Senator Binos Yaroe and the eight distinguished senators who boldly aligned with the ADC yesterday, not for personal gain, but in the interest of Nigeria’s democracy.

“At a time when many are being coerced into the ruling party, their decision to stand with the opposition is a powerful statement of courage, conviction, and commitment to national interest.

“Democracy without credible opposition is democracy in name only. Their presence strengthens our collective voice for accountability, good governance, and the future Nigerians deserve,” he added.

The former vice president said leaders who prioritise principles over political pressure contribute to national progress.

“When leaders choose principle over pressure, the nation wins. Together, we will build a stronger, more just, and more prosperous Nigeria,” he stated.
