Troops of the Nigerian Army under the Joint Task Force (JTF) North East Operation HADIN KAI have successfully repelled a terrorist attack on a military location in Ngoshe, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State, restoring full control of the position after a swift counter-offensive.

The attack, which occurred on March 3, targeted a position occupied by soldiers of OPHK. Reinforcement teams drawn from Forward Operating Base Pulka and 151 Battalion were immediately mobilized to strengthen the location.

During the operation, the leading Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle struck an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), damaging two tyres. Undeterred, troops pressed on to the location, where a special reinforcement team led by Brigadier General Nasirudeen Abdullahi, Commander of the 26 Task Force Brigade, coordinated a counter-attack that forced the terrorists to withdraw.

In the ensuing pursuit and exchange of fire, troops recovered three AK-47 rifles and a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) barrel from the fleeing terrorists. The Air Component of OPHK also provided heavy air support, neutralizing scores of insurgents.

Following the successful reoccupation of the site, Brigadier General Abdullahi commended the troops for their gallantry and resilience, urging them to sustain aggressive operations to further degrade terrorist elements in the area.

A statement from the JTF emphasized that troops remain resolute in denying terrorists freedom of action and will continue operations to ensure lasting peace, security, and economic stability across the North East. Morale among the soldiers remains high, and operations are ongoing.
