Fashola Explains Why He Won’t Criticise Tinubu on Television

Former Lagos State Governor and ex-Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola, has explained why he chooses not to publicly criticise President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying he prefers to offer his advice directly to the President through private discussions.

Speaking during a television interview, Fashola said he has direct access to the President and believes confidential conversations are more effective than public criticism. He noted that Tinubu regularly seeks his views on governance and areas requiring improvement, making televised commentary unnecessary.

The former minister stressed that maintaining a private communication channel with the President allows him to provide honest and constructive feedback without resorting to public criticism. He added that his approach is guided by a desire to contribute positively to governance rather than generate public debate.

Fashola also dismissed suggestions that he should become more vocal about the administration’s performance, insisting that offering advice behind closed doors is the most responsible course of action when direct access to the President already exists.
