Some suspected kidnappers have abducted Apostle Emmanuel Egoh Bako, Kaduna State Chairman of the Penticostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and his wife, Cindy Bako. Bako and his wife were kidnapped in Jema’a local government area on Christmas Day.  Samuel Aruwan, the state Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, who confirmed the incident on Saturday, said the gunmen attacked the Albarka praying camp along the Afana-Fadan Kagoma-Kwoi road before abducting Apostle Bako, his wife and one Mr Douglas from the camp.  Aruwan said troops arrived the location and pursued the kidnappers but they were able to escape with the victims.

Ahmed Lemu, renowned Islamic scholar and retired justice, has died. Nurudeen, the retired justice’s son, announced the death on behalf of his family on Thursday but did not reveal details of Lemu’s death. “It is with sadness and reverence to Allah that we announce the passing away of our father, Dr. Justice Sheikh Ahmed Lemu OFR, in the early hours of this morning in Minna. Burial arrangements to be announced later,” Nurudeen said. Lemu is one of the two Nigerians who have won King Faisal Prize.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has said the group and other religious bodies will sensitise churches and mosques to the need to be security conscious during the festive period, Sahara Reporters reports. The Department of State Services (DSS) had on Tuesday alerted Nigerians to the possibility of attacks in the country during the Christmas holiday, including critical infrastructure, places of worship, as well as recreational centres. Udom Emmanuel, Akwa Ibom State Governor, has said he has no plans to impose a successor to reach him at the end of his tenure in 2023. The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that Coronavirus vaccine will be given for free. Sani Aliyu, National Coordinator, Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 (PTF), gave the assurance when he appeared as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Wednesday. The Catholic Church has given its nod to the use of coronavirus vacinne, stating that it is morally acceptable. MERIDIAN SPY understands that COVID-19 vaccines are developed using cell lines derived from aborted foetuses. But the Vatican announced, in a statement released on Monday, that in the absence of any alternative, such vaccines “can be used in good conscience.” It added that this would “not constitute formal co-operation” with the terminations that took place. 11 corps members at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Taraba State have tested positive for coronavirus. Innocent Vakkai, the state Commissioner for Health, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Jalingo, the state capital.
