The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has elected a new president, ushering in a new leadership phase for the organization.
At its annual elective convention held at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja, Oladoja Olushola, emerged as the newly elected president of the association, The Meridianspy, reports.
In addition to the presidency, other key positions were also filled. Anzaku Shedrack from the University of Abuja was elected as the Secretary-General, while Usman Adamu Nagwaza got elected as the Senate President of the association.
NANS, the apex student body in Nigeria, represents millions of students across tertiary institutions in the country. It is also recognized as the largest black student movement in the world, playing a critical role in advocating for students’ rights, educational reforms, and national development.
The newly elected leadership is expected to steer the organization towards addressing key issues affecting Nigerian students, including academic welfare, government policies on education, and campus security in the next one year.
