The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has directed security agencies and the Department of Development Control to immediately dismantle unauthorised beer parlours operating in the Asokoro axis of Abuja over emerging security concerns.
Wike gave the directive on Friday after a high-level security meeting with the FCT Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja.
The minister said the decision followed security intelligence suggesting potential threats linked to the operations of the relaxation centres.
He stressed that the FCT Administration would take proactive measures to prevent criminal activities and address security risks before they escalate.
“We have been told of some security threats originating from somewhere leading towards Asokoro, where some individuals are attempting to establish unauthorised beer parlour businesses,” Wike said.
“We will not allow that. There is no such approval, and we will not permit it,” he added.
To enforce the directive, the minister instructed the Department of Development Control to work with security agencies to clear the affected locations and remove the unauthorised establishments.
“We have directed Development Control, in conjunction with security agencies, to go and chase them away before we begin to have security problems. We will not allow that at all,” he stated.
Wike said the public announcement was intended to inform residents of the administration’s position on unauthorised businesses and its determination to maintain law and order in the nation’s capital.
The directive underscores the FCT Administration’s stated commitment to addressing emerging security threats and enforcing development regulations across Abuja.
