The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has launched a scathing attack on an unnamed political figure, alleging that the individual has secretly accepted a Vice-Presidential slot despite knowing that party primaries had long been concluded.
In a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, Keyamo mocked the politician, suggesting that he is currently struggling to draft a statement that would justify the decision to his supporters without appearing like a betrayer of his original cause.
The Minister, who served as the spokesperson for the Tinubu-Shettima campaign council during the 2023 elections, described the politician as a “turncoat” and a “fraud,” claiming that the eventual announcement would expose the individual’s true nature.
“Finally, the chicken is coming home to roost,” Keyamo wrote. “I understand that someone, somewhere has drafted and redrafted the statement he will release to hoodwink his ‘supporters’ on why he has accepted to be Vice-Presidential candidate after a primaries that he knows has long been concluded.”
Keyamo insinuated that the politician is finding it difficult to spin the narrative, noting that the draft statements likely contain the usual political rhetoric to mask the demotion.
“He has written and torn drafts upon drafts, containing the normal gibberish of ‘my desire to rescue Nigeria’, bla, bla bla. It’s a tough one for him, but we are excited at the prospect of unmasking a true turncoat and a fraud at the coming campaigns,” he added.
The Minister urged Nigerians to pay close attention to the unfolding political drama, challenging his followers to bookmark the tweet for future reference when the said politician eventually makes the announcement.
“Please, bookmark this tweet so we can all read his statement with some derision when it is eventually released,” Keyamo stated, adding a taunt about the reactions in his comment section from those whose “raw nerves have been seriously affected.”
While Keyamo did not mention any specific name, his comments have sparked speculation across social media, with many interpreting the jab as being directed at opposition figures involved in ongoing realignment talks ahead of future elections.
