Katsina revokes licenses of private, community school

The Katsina Government has withdrawn the operating licenses of all private and community schools across the state, with effect from August 13, 2025.

The announcement was contained in a circular from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, signed by Commissioner Hajiya Zainab Musa-Musawa. The ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Malam Sani Danjuma, released the document in Katsina on Saturday.

According to the ministry, the move is aimed at strengthening quality assurance and standardization within the education sector.

As part of the new policy, the state government has reviewed the fees for license application, registration, and annual renewal.

Owners of affected schools are expected to obtain fresh licenses by submitting evidence of payment to the ministry on or before September 30, 2025.

The circular further directed that schools must not increase tuition or related charges without prior approval, stressing that the government will provide stakeholders with additional guidelines, including categorization and revised fees
