The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU, has commenced an indefinite strike over the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System IPPIS and the non-implementation of the 2009 agreement.

The national president of the union, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, made the announcement on Monday at a press briefing in its national secretariat at Abuja.

Ogunyemi stated that the reason behind the industrial action was the government’s failure to address the issues raised.

Recall that the academic union had on Monday, March 9 declared a two-week warning strike.

Meanwhile most tertiary institutions across the nation has been shutdown following the rising cases of coronavirus infections in the country, with total number of confirmed cases at 36 and one death recorded.
