Goodluck Jonathan, former Nigerian president, says it is too early for politicians to be talking about 2023 presidency.

Jonathan made the comment after attending an event organised by the Commonwealth Community Choir in Abuja on Friday.

The ex-president’s comment was, however, not unconnected with reports of him being persuaded to run at the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s two terms. This was after some governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) paid Jonathan a visit in commemoration of his birthday.

Jonathan who spoke to newsmen shortly after the event, said there are still other issues to focus on ahead of the next general election.

When asked if he would be joining the presidential race in 2023 he said: “It is too early to talk about that.”
