The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Command, has arrested 12 individuals for allegedly operating illegal Bureau de Change (BDC) businesses in the state.

EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Thursday, noting that the suspects were picked up on Wednesday following intelligence gathering and discreet surveillance by operatives.

According to Oyewale, preliminary investigations revealed that the individuals were conducting BDC activities without mandatory regulatory approvals.

“Items recovered from them include various sums of cash and luxury jewellery,” he stated.

The EFCC spokesperson added that the suspects are currently undergoing profiling and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
