Ahead of the September governorship election in Edo State, Ayodele Fayose, former Ekiti State governor, has warned Governor Godwin Obaseki not to return to the All Progressive Congress (APC) if he emerges winner in the polls.

Governor Obaseki defected to the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to enable him pursue his re-election bid after he was disqualified by the APC over defects in his certificates.

Fayose who expressed optimism of the incumbent Edo Governor’s victory at the polls, warned Obaseki not to leave the party if he eventually gets reelected and assumes office for the second term “for flimsy excuses”.

“My position is that, for obvious reasons, I am not a fan of both Gov Obaseki and Oshiomhole,” the former Ekiti governor tweeted on Thursday.

“That notwithstanding, I believe that Obaseki will win, but he should honour his agreement with the PDP by not returning to APC after assuming office for the second term for flimsy excuses.”
