Thirteen lawmakers of the Imo State House of Assembly tested positive for coronavirus in the state.
This was confirmed by the state COVID-19 Task Force spokesperson, Chinedu Iwuala on Tuesday.
Iwuala explained to newsmen that the tests of the lawmakers whose results returned positive were sequel to a lawmaker in the state assembly who previously tested positive for the disease.
He said the affected lawmakers have gone on self-isolation.
Recall the speaker, Collins Chiji had ordered the assembly complex be shut down after one lawmaker tested positive for COVID-19 while stating also ordering the fumigation of the complex.
According to data by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday night, Nigeria has a total of 21,371 confirmed cases, 7,338 discharged and 533 deaths. Imo however recorded only three new cases and now has a total of 246 confirmed cases.
