G. S. M. Abubakar, an Army Captain attached to 353 Artillery Regiment, Ojo Barracks in Lagos, was shot dead by suspected bandits along the Okene-Lokoja highway.

Captain Abubakar was said to be traveling in his Honda Accord car with some members of his family when the tragic incident took place.

He ran into a blockade mounted by the armed bandits and was eventually shot, while his family members were abducted.

It was learnt that the deceased Army Captain was heading to the Armed Forces Command and Staff College in Jaji, Kaduna State, to participate in 2020 junior officers course.

Other army officers who were traveling in other vehicles behind him narrowly escaped the attack as they maneuvred and sped away from the scene.

The deceased family had claimed his corpse on Tuesday July 7, after it was deposited at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Lokoja.
