Report released today indicated that twenty-eight million nine hundred thousand people living in Nigeria and other West and Central African countries depend on emergency food assistance for survival, World Bank report. This is despite an above-average yield in the 2022/23 agricultural season. The global bank explained that countries in these regions continue to face high levels of food insecurity because of persistent insecurity and macroeconomic challenges. A Nigerian laboratory, the Central Public Health Laboratory (CPHL), Lagos, recently attained a World Health Organisation (WHO) full laboratory accreditation status in respect of its contribution to the fight against measles and rubella in the country. The CPHL is one of the laboratories under the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) Measles and Rubella laboratory network. The Transmission Company of Nigeria, (TCN), yesterday, disclosed that it has received eight brand new power transformers under the World Bank-funded Nigerian Electricity Transmission Project, (NETAP). The company in a statement by its General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah stated that the transformers comprise six number 150/187.5MVA, 330/132/33kV power transformers, and two number 100/125MVA, 132/33kV power transformers are still at the ports as the arrangement is being concluded to move the transformers.
