The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has thrown its weight behind the appointment of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, as the Anambra State Coordinator of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
The party congratulated Soludo on his inclusion in the revised All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council list, describing the development as a recognition of his leadership qualities, commitment to progressive ideals and advocacy for strategic cooperation between the Anambra State Government and the Federal Government.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, APGA said Soludo’s appointment reflected his consistent efforts to promote collaboration between the party and the Federal Government for the benefit of Anambra State and the Igbo people.
The party also reaffirmed its support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, disclosing that it had adopted the President as its consensus candidate for the 2027 presidential election during its National Executive Committee meeting and the President’s working visit to Anambra State on May 8, 2025.
According to APGA, the party had consequently resolved not to field a presidential candidate in the forthcoming election.
Opara maintained that Soludo’s popular mantra, “Progressives are Working Together,” represented more than a political slogan, describing it as an expression of shared ideological values between APGA and the progressive political movement at the national level.
He added that the partnership had already produced tangible benefits for Anambra State, particularly through Federal Government collaboration on critical infrastructure and economic development initiatives.
The party, however, clarified that its support for Tinubu’s presidential ambition would not affect its independent political interests in Anambra State.
“While APGA remains firmly in control of Anambra State, our position remains: In Anambra, it is Tinubu for President, APGA for Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly,” the statement said.
APGA expressed confidence that Soludo’s intellectual depth, organisational capacity and acceptance across the South-East would help mobilise substantial support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 general election.
The endorsement comes as the APC expands its presidential campaign structure in preparation for the next general election. Other prominent figures named in the revised campaign council include Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke; Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori; former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola; and Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo.
President Tinubu will head the campaign council, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, serving as vice-chairmen.
APGA’s position underscores its strategy of maintaining control of political offices in Anambra State while supporting Tinubu at the presidential level, reflecting the party’s declared approach of cooperation with the Federal Government without surrendering its state-level political identity.
