Tinubu Opens Modern Customs Office, Training Facility In Ogun
President Bola Tinubu has commissioned the newly completed office of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A, of the Nigeria Customs Service in Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The President arrived at the venue at about 3:08 p.m., shortly after inaugurating the state’s cargo airport, and commended the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for conceptualising a befitting facility for the unit.
The new complex comprises office buildings and a training college aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and capacity development within the service.
“I hereby declare this building open, to the glory of God,” Tinubu said during the commissioning.
Senior officers of the FOU Zone A expressed delight over the development, describing it as a major morale booster for personnel.
Some officers who spoke after the event noted that the facility marks the first time the unit would operate from a purpose-built office it can call its own.
“This is a morale booster to the rank and file of the Nigeria Customs Service. It may not translate into immediate relocation, but we are ready to fully maximise the opportunities this facility offers,” a senior officer said.
“As you can see, the office is ready. It has been commissioned and we are prepared to commence operations accordingly,” the officer added.
Present at the commissioning are the governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, former president Olusegun Obasanjo, his daughter, Iyabo Obasanjo, Senator Olamilekan Yayi, Speaker of Lagos House of Assenbly, Mudashiru Obasa, among Others.
