Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, has hailed Nigerian youths for the display of bravery during the ENDSARS protest across the country.
The youths had marched out into the streets demanding an end to police brutality and sundry issues of bad governance, resulting in the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a unit of the force.
They, however, refused to back down and continued their agitation. As hoodlums infiltrated and began to unleash violence, some states, including Lagos, imposed a curfew to quel the unrest.
Despite the curfew the youths were resilient in their struggle until Nigerian soldiers allegedly opened fire on unarmed protesters at Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos on Tuesday night leading to loss of lives and many sustaining varying degrees of injuries.
Reacting via his Twitter handle on Friday, Fani-Kayode noted that the country has never witnessed a generation of youths as courageous as the ones who trooped out to the streets to make demands from the government.
“Nigeria has never witnessed a generation of youths that are as courageous as the ones of today,” the ex- aviation minister noted.
“Just when many of us gave up on them they came out with a bang & brought a tyrant to his knees.
They refused to blink even when they were faced with guns & slaughtered in the streets.”
