Tinubu Hails Soludo’s Re-election, Describes Victory as Affirmation of Visionary Leadership
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, on his re-election, describing the outcome of Saturday’s governorship poll as a testament to his visionary leadership and the trust reposed in him by the people of the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the State House, President Tinubu said Soludo’s resounding victory, which makes him the third governor in Anambra’s history to secure a second term, reflected the confidence of citizens in his record of performance and reform-driven governance.
The President commended the people of Anambra State, security agencies, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring a peaceful and credible election, noting that the process underscored Nigeria’s growing democratic maturity.
“Professor Soludo’s re-election is a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance,” Tinubu said, adding that the governor’s academic grounding and reform-minded approach have brought discipline, transparency, and innovation to governance in the state.
Recounting his visit to Anambra in May, where he inaugurated some projects executed by the Soludo administration, President Tinubu said he was impressed by the “good thinking” behind the initiatives, describing the experience as “remarkable and indelible.”
He praised Soludo—popularly known as Mr. Solution—for bringing “grace, brilliance, and a fresh perspective” to leadership, noting that “under him, Anambra is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation.”
The President urged the governor to be magnanimous in victory and to extend a hand of cooperation to his opponents for the collective good of the state.
“I assure Governor Soludo of my unwavering support and look forward to continued collaboration between Anambra and the Federal Government,” Tinubu said.
He also commended the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, for conducting what observers described as a credible election, urging the commission to sustain and improve on its performance in future polls.
Tinubu added that the All Grand Progressives Alliance’s (AGPA) triumph in the election demonstrated the vitality of Nigeria’s democracy and reaffirmed that “victory for any progressive and hardworking leader can hardly be denied.”
